Zodiac signs

The zodiac is divided into 12 signs :
Your zodiac sign = your Sunsign
- Aries
- Taurus
- Gemini
- Cancer
- Leo
- Virgo
- Libra
- Scorpio
- Sagittarius
- Capricorn
- Aquarius
- Pisces
Long before they were incluced by Ptolemy in his list of stars - around the year 150 - all these ancient zodiac signs were already known. They are not equal in size or glare; Gemini is a very big and bright constellation, while Pisces and Libra have very little charisma and no notable stars.
There are also 2 zodiac signs that are not officially included in the zodiac. A fairly large proportion of Ophiuchus is located between Scorpio and Sagittarius, while a portion of Cetus (Whale) is also close to the ecliptica.
The main point of vieuw is that they are not of interest as members of the zodiac, though some astrologers may still prefer a zodiac with a total of 14 instead of 12 characters.
Astrologically, the visible constellations are not that important, they only serve as names for the established astrological signs.
These signs have a symbolic power.
Stages of live
The 12 zodiac signs symbolize, in a sense, the cycle of nature:
The first part introduces the fire- and spring sign Aries, symbol of creation, birth and all beginning.
The second part introduces the water- and summer sign Cancer. This part symbolizes the prevail of the I-consciousness, the beginning of the reflection on the self, on the personality and individuality.
At the beginning of the third part, the air- and fall sign Libra, the symbol of balance, symbolizes how the individual relates towards his surroundings.
In the fourth part of the zodiac, initiated by the earth- and winter sign Capricorn, the unity of the mature individual with the community in which he or she lives is symbolized.
It is important to remember that your horoscope is ultimately a diagram of your soul. It was the influence of the planetary energy on you, that corresponds with the type of person you are.
The chart is also earth - oriented, meaning that the horoscope is drawn in such a way that the earth is the centre. It symbolizes, as it should, that you were the center of the universe when you were born.
